we used to have loads of ryhmes to sing while we played elastics - there was a different ryme that you sang with specific actions, and they had to go in a specific order as well, so everyone knew how far you got.
It always started of with:

England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales,
Inside, outside, inside, tails!

as you jumped over and on the elastic.
