I had a ballerina Sindy doll which had bendy legs she was a great contortionist, that was until the day her leg split at the knee lol.

Much like looby my folks bought me Sindy stuff but I was much happier playing with lego, cars and soldiers! I did have Sindy caravan, which was ok, it was towed by an action man jeep. The things Sindy and Eagle Eye Action man got up to were unspeakable!  Roll Eyes

My best friend Kate got her dad to make me a bed for my Sindy as a Christmas present, complete with pretty yellow duvet and mattress.  It was a wooden double bed.

I lost count of the times I found Sindy naked in said bed with Eagle Eye Action Man, courtesty of my younger brother!!

I went through a brief phase of wanting to be a tomboy (no doubt brought on by the Famous Five), but was somewhat hampered by being plump, useless at climbing trees and having no natural sporting ability whatsoever.  Sadly, I was musical, literary and interested in cooking, which scuppered the whole tomboy thing!

I never had much in the way of official Sindy stuff, as my mum and dad used to make stuff for me - clothes, furniture, everything.  They even made me a doll's house for my Fisher Price family - and then Dad built an extension for it and put in electric lights!

I still have some of my old Sindy dolls from the 70s. The ones with big heads & real eyelashes! They are stored in the loft somewhere?
I used to use my brother's Actionman as Sindy's boyfriend. He would come & take her out in his Jeep. She used to borrow his clothes too.She looked really cute in his combat trousers & green army top all clinched at the waist with a wide belt! My bro used to moan like crazy  but some flying saucer sweets, Blackjacks or Bazooka Joe bubble gum would pay him off  for a while.
I also had about 4 Pippa dolls (remember them)? They were a lot smaller than Sindy & I would use them to play the part of Sindy's little sisters...Happy days (sigh).

I bet there isn’t a child who didn’t do the Action Man with Sindy/Barbie thing if they resided in the same house! Poor Sindy though, action man didn’t have a lot to offer in the end!  Tongue

Loved Pippa dolls, my friend gave me one from her collection. She had a gaudy mini dress with a press stud almost as big as her head on the back. Her hair was dead straight and blonde (typical!) and her hands and feet irresistibly chewy!  Tongue

I had 2 blonde Pippas and a ginger haired one (I think her name was Rosemary?).  I remember there was a black Pippa too.

My mum told me that the Italian equivalent of Action Man actually does have plastic bits (so to speak).  As in all the best Mills & Boons, Italian men really are better, at least for Sindy!

One of my favourite toys as a child was my "Pippa's Apartment".  A vision in plastic.
