I Don't Believe It!!!

How the hell did Leon win??

He was consistently bad from the start. He should never had made the final  Huh
He's an average singer with no charisma and little personality.
The 2 versions he and the Riddler performed off the same song you couldn't even compare them  Angry

I turned the tv off in disgust the moment Leons name was announced.

My prediction is he'll be forgotten this time next year...

I'm convinced Leon only won because the entire population of Scotland voted for him. Nothing to do with singing ability or talent but based on nationality.
Bit like Eurovision really.

Actually I thought Leon sang quite well in the final. I have a good ear and his intonation was faultless. HOWEVER I do agree that he is somewhat lacking in charisma and I am not sure that he has what it takes to succeed. He will have to stop crying and stop wringing his hands for a start.

On the plus side I think that Rhydian will make it no matter what. He has a slightly strange personality but a brilliant voice.

Erm... but surely if the whole population of England had voted for the English singer(s) - I don't know who was from what country, I've not seen any of it - it would have outweighed the Scottish population's vote.... seeing as your population's bigger than our population  Tongue  Undecided Grin

I won't be buying the single anyway... I just can't wait til Leona Lewis and Leon (ooo... nearly same name...!) disappear into the abyss along with Gareth Gates, Darius, Michelle McManus, and all the other Pop Idol / X-Factor fame-hungry, talentless identikit popstars...  Angry

ps. I must be the one Scottish person who didn't vote!  Grin

Oh no - I've just b*lloxed up the poll on this.

I didn't watch X Factor and I thought voting "Same Difference" was the same as voting "Who cares?" - didn't realise they were contestants!

So please ignore the one vote for them!!

I think what the others are trying to say Ally is that Scots tend to have more "national pride" than us and vote Scottish - whereas I'd happily vote for a Scottish contestant over an English one, there is a certain section of the Scottish population who won't and make it an issue of Scotland beating England - I'm sure you must know some people like that (my best friend and her entire family, for starters!)

"What football team are you supporting now Scotland are out of the World Cup?"
"Whoever's playing England"

You know, the same people that made miserable Jason come second in Big Brother 5!  And kept Kenny in Strictly Come Dancing....

Apparently now there's to be an investigation after complaints that people voting for Rydian were unable to get through as the lines were jammed!

I had trouble getting through to vote on Strictly on Saturday night - I did just keep trying.  I think they always underestimate how many people will want to vote (or how many times!!)

Yes, I know I'm sad  Grin

Strictly Dancing seems to be the more popular on here, although I must confess i've never watched it.

The best bit about x -factor are the really bad auditions!  Grin
I find the later stages irritating and after the outrage of a result this year with dull, karaoke king Leon winning I doubt i'll watch next years. (although I say that everytime)

We tend to watch the auditions for the laughs and then catch the end but miss the bit in the middle as it usually clashes with Strictly... and I can't be bothered recording it.

I used to enjoy this bit the most too.  I stopped watching when I found out that in order to be auditioned by Simon, Sharon, Louis and Danni, you actually have to get through a first round of auditions with another (not famous) panel.

In other words, they deliberately put the really bad people through in order to laugh at them on national television.

I know some of these people really are deluded and may deserve a bit of gentle mocking, but I don't like this nastiness or the "fixed" aspect of this.  It's particularly cruel when they are put through this first round, only to be rejected for their appearance in the second round - and have it shown on TV.  Remember that poor Welsh girl a couple of series ago, who entered as a duo with her friend and couldn't really sing very well, but was told by Simon Cowell that she looked like Vikki Pollard?  That was just mean - she should have been rejected straight away, not given false hope just to be laughed at.
