I'd forgotten all about this thread!  I thought I'd let you all know that we had our reunion last Saturday night.  We ended up hiring a hall and DJ  because we heard through the grapevine that people not from our year were turning up at the pub we had originally planned to meet at!  I'm not talking people who were a couple of years younger than us but who are 13 or 14 years younger than us!

Anyways, it was one of the best nights ever!  40 of us turned up which wasn't bad given that we only planned it in just over 4 weeks.  There was no nastiness, no arrogance or egos about what people were doing now or how much they earned.  Just everyone having a laugh together.

We will definitely be doing it again and we have already arranged to go to the races in a few weeks time!

Hello, I only joined this website recently,

On the subject of reunions I'd like to say that when I first heard about Friends Reunited I had a look and I couldn't believe all the names that came flooding back to memory from high school!

This is because I found after we all left, some people went off to university, others college, some into full time work...I mean we just went separate ways and consequently we all got used to new crowds of people, and seeing the list of all the old crowd again actually hit me hard, even more so because I found when we were in school we all had our own groups of friends, and wouldn't very often mix with everyone else.
Now, when I read messages people had left some were saying "Hello everyone....." and being so much more welcoming - well, they've all matured I suppose - well, most of them!

One girl in particular (my old best friend's girlfriend) said "I've finished my degree at Newcastle Upon Tyne..." and I almost gasped - I just wanted to hug her and say "I didn't realise you'd gone there - I'm originally from that area."

Then she added "Can't handle not being a student anymore..." and she made some witty comment, but it really hit me what a huge stepping stone I'd left behind.

So I'd say reunions can be great experiences but also emotional - you'll very likely have mixed feelings if you go to one.

We've got our school reunion in March next year, I'm still debating whether to go or not. I have mixed feelings about the place, on one hand some of the 'kids' made my life hell and on the other I made friends for life.

Would be interesting to see what everyone is doing now though.

Must admit my school had a reunion in the summer, and after talking to a few of my old friends I still see...I realised that I had changed so much, my life values had changed so much, I didn;t go...I felt too removed from what I had been to what I am now.

Our school is having an Anniversary reunion at the end of January next year.
I must admit to being tempted but it would mean travelling back to N. Ireland and I'd want to be sure there'd be others there that I would definitely know and like...

I was very lucky - I went to a great school where I never experienced any bullying or teasing so my memories are all happy ones.  We had a reunion last April and it was fantastic.  Difficult for most to come as I went to an international school - still, we had former-pupils turn up from not only all over the UK but Hong Kong, Malta and Boston, too.  It was incredible seeing everyone again - most hadn't really changed and although many of us hadn't seen each other for years, it was as if no time had passed at all.

By coincidence I found out this weekend that there is to be a reunion of my leaving year.

Problem is it is being organised by one of the aforementioned twats and only (in general) the other twats have been invited.

Tis a  shame as I'd like to say that these were the best days of my life but spent so much of my time at secondary school (Junior school and college were completely different kettles of fish) being the butt of humour that this wouldnt be honest  Sad

Looking back I can objectively say that part of the problem was my inability to laugh at myself and thus take myself far too seriously but this didn't make it any more fun at the time  Undecided

Hello, I wouldn't be that bothered about not attending that reunion then - I know what you mean. I've been invited out for reunions recently but like your situation it's the old idiots who I'd rather forget about that are organising it, so I politely declined. Some people never grow up. Unfortunately.

I was often the target and people say "You take it too seriously" but I say that's a load of rubbish, you don't take it - it's inflicted on you. You don't choose how you feel. You can hide it with a fixed smile, but that doesn't stop you from cringing inside.

The big joke is, I remember an incident when one of the resident idiots got annoyed because his "friends" were taking the (ahem) out of his Mum. He wouldn't let it drop. It's always amusing to see which of them can give it but can't take it.

It still happens today - someone's normally a right arrogant (ahem) in the office, then something happens that makes them look like a helpless idiot! Great! What goes around comes around!

True enough fella - there is a indeed a big difference between some mates who are having a laugh at some genuine act of muppetry for which you have been responsible and some vindictive little idiots who make themsevles feel better by putting you down.
