I think this is very sad.But it shows how kids tv today is no longer for teenagers or adults to enjoy with the kids...

what a shame... Cry

I suppose now the country is all going digital (we've gone over in our area), most households will now have CBeebies, CBBC and CITV available.

The BBC have sort of admitted that they'll be filling up the schedules with "some new drama" and a lot of repeats though!!

The sad thing is that when there was a gripping TV drama on you used to be able to take about it with your friends in school but now with so many channels and viewing options etc it's unlikely anyone else is watching the same thing at the same time as you anymore

I recently spent a few days away with Mr Widow and some of his friends and their children - one age nearly 5, one age nearly 11 and one age 16.

The 5 year old spent the whole time watching cartoons via her dad's iPad - even at mealtimes!

The 11 year old had no interest in TV and spent as much time as he was allowed to on the X-box, otherwise he had to do homework or pratise the guitar (different parents from the 5 year old!)  At his age, I would no doubt have been begging to be allowed to watch TV, preferably the A Team  Embarrassed

The 16 year old preferred just to be on her smart phone - the only thing she watched was Downton Abbey with her mum.  She also spent a LOT of time doing AS level course work.

I suppose this is a sign of the times!

My dad wouldn't let us do things like that at the dinner table...mind you we didn't have mobiles then..still very rude..

I've seen kids walking down the street glued to there phones..probably facebook..a lot of addicted kids out there..

When I went on holiday no internet..phones for a week..just lots of reading.. Smiley Its good for the soul to have a breather..

We were allowed to move our chairs to the end of the dining table so we could just about see the television if there was something really special on (because of course there was no video).  The only thing I can remember was the Batman movie - the Adam West / Burt Ward one.  Once we got a video, that stopped.
